Solution-focused responses to homelessness are supporting people to move rapidly back into an appropriate home and connect to a range of supports and employment opportunities in the community which promote successful tenancies.
Services are supporting people to link in to a broad range of community and home-based supports, including mental and physical healthcare, substance use counselling, employment and training support and childcare.
Tailored packages of housing and support services are ending homelessness for households ranging from families finding themselves in crisis for the first time, to people with chronic physical and mental health conditions who have lived on the streets for decades.
While the homelessness sector plays a key role in this response, it cannot end homelessness alone.
Cross-sector programs must be equipped to prevent people from becoming homeless and provide the affordable housing and ongoing health and wellbeing supports that all households need to remain stable.
