What is homelessness? Who counts as homeless? What causes homelessness? These are just some of the questions explored by leading experts in a new book, Homelessness In Australia. This first of its kind publication looks at the complex causes and consequences of homelessness in Australia.
Homelessness in Australia was instigated and coordinated by CHP. Containing the detailed findings of 21 independent authors across research, policy and academia, the book starts with an overview of homelessness including policy and causes. The following chapters address topics such as what constitutes homelessness, and the relationship between gender, age, race, domestic and family violence as well as the justice system, trauma and chronic homelessness. The final section looks to the future – the problems with the current housing system and what reforms are necessary to turn it around.
Homelessness in Australia is published by NewSouth Publishing and can be ordered directly from CHP.
