National Homelessness Conference
About
The National Homelessness Conference, jointly convened by AHURI and Homelessness Australia, returns as a face-to-face event in 2022 – to be held in Canberra, while also offering a virtual option for delegates unable to travel to the nation’s capital.
The Conference will be held from Monday 8 to Wednesday 10 August at the National Convention Centre Canberra and will build on the important lessons learned from the 2018 conference in Melbourne and the 2020 virtual event.
After two tumultuous years as the country has faced the pandemic and a series of natural disasters, there are many repercussions for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness across the country.
The conference program outlines all sessions across the three days, including six plenary and 12 concurrent sessions. Some key topics to be examined during the plenary sessions over the three days include:
Are COVID responses the building blocks for a national plan to end homelessness?
Closing the gap on housing outcomes for Indigenous Australians
Is the climate crisis an impending homelessness crisis?
Unhoused – a game-changing media campaign?
The conference concurrent sessions will also allow for in-depth coverage of issues being faced by homelessness service providers including workforce capacity, homelessness in regional Australia, implementation of Housing First, embedded lived experience voices in homeless responses, child protection and many more.
