About

Youth Homelessness Matters Day (YHMD) is the annual national awareness day for youth homelessness in Australia. It’s a day of celebration, learning and understanding and advocacy.

Held on the third Wednesday of April each year, YHMD has been an exciting campaign since its inception in 1990. Started by a group of social advocates who believed that too many young people were moving out of home with nowhere to go, the day has since grown into a national celebration of young people’s resilience.

Individuals and organisations are encouraged to join the actions taking place on YHMD, run campaigns, and help to create discussion and awareness of issues relating to youth homelessness, so that we as a nation can develop sustainable and innovative solutions.
